"Focused on Healing: J&J Institute Provides Global Education on Hip & Femur Fractures" news article banner on JJI.com.

Approximately 90 percent of the 1.6 million hip fractures that occur around the globe1 each year happen in people over age 65.  With the world’s population aging rapidly, that number is expected to increase exponentially.  To address the problem, the Johnson & Johnson Institute offers global professional education focused on the treatment of hip and femur fractures.

For many older patients, a hip fracture can lead to a loss of independence.  But new techniques and technology can help surgeons repair the injury and increase the likelihood that the patient will heal and regain mobility. By providing greater access to education and training on innovative procedural solutions, the Johnson & Johnson Institute is helping to improve outcomes, increase patient satisfaction and reduce costs in the healthcare system.

We have a long-standing relationship with the AO Foundation, a not-for-profit, global network of surgeons and the world’s leading educational and research organization for the treatment of trauma and musculoskeletal disorders. Participants can learn from renowned surgeon educators through didactic sessions, hands-on experiences, peer-to-peer surgery observations and case reviews, as well as digital offerings.

“The statistics are startling when it comes to trauma injuries. They have become a bigger disease burden than ever before,” said Sandra Humbles, Vice President, Global Education Solutions. “We are proud to partner with the global Orthopaedic medical community to deliver comprehensive education to advance the knowledge and skills of surgeons who treat hip and femur fractures and to help make a difference in the lives of the patients we serve.”
