Welcome to the Level Up Program for the Thoracic Specialty. 

This module is designed to help in your development of essential core skills for thoracic surgery, with a focus on video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) techniques for lobectomy and segmentectomy. You will explore the scientific basis for using energy devices in thoracic procedures and understand the application of ultrasonic energy for vessel sealing, tissue dissection, and lymph node management in VATS. 

Throughout the module, you will learn how to identify the most appropriate surgical approach—lobectomy vs. segmentectomy—based on patient-specific factors such as disease stage and lung function. You will also gain hands-on knowledge of how to effectively use ultrasonic energy devices during VATS procedures to enhance surgical precision and outcomes.
